Record of I-140 & EB-485 Receipts & Approvals in FY 2011
01/06/2012
Do you want to know approximately how many new cases they receive and how many cases they approve per each quarter (3 months) for I-140 petitions and EB-485 applications? Following data will give some idea as to where the USCIS is when it comes to volumes they produce. EB-485 approval means that they have been consuming these numbers each quarter out of the annual total EB quota numbers.
EB-485 Approvals and New Receipt per Quarter of FY 2011
QTR 1 QTR 2 QTR 3 QTR 4 Year Total
Approvals 24,040 21,944 36,128 41,193 123,305
New Receipts 19,696 16,836 19,671 22,139 78,302
Note: EB green cards are approved approximately 30,000 every three months at average, and approximately 19,500 new EB-485 are received every three months. The record at the end of October 2011 indicates that they had approximately 94,000 "pre-adjudicated cases which were waiting for the visa numbers availability plus approximately 100,000 cases pending. Adding these two numbers up, it had approximately 194,000 EB-485 cases as of the end of October 2011, which were in queue for EB-485 cases which were eventually to take out the EB visa numbers coming months in the 1st Quarter of 2012 and the rest of the FY 2012 visa pool. Considering the annual EB numerical limitation is 140,000, the numbers are large, not to mention a large number of other EB-485 cases which were approved prior to FY 2011. For the details, we will have to wait and see the coming release of EB-485 inventory statistics. Please stay tuned.
I-140 Approvals and New Receipts per Quarter of FY 2011
QTR 1 QTR 2 QTR 3 QTR 4 Year Total
Approvals 14,226 16,594 24,757 25,704 81,281
New Receipts 20,442 21,634 20,726 18,856 81,678
Note: It is interesting to note that USCIS approved I-140 cases at the rate of approximately 20,000 per quarter and about equal numbers have been received per quarter. Oops! Forgot to mention that each I-140 will lead to approximately 2.7 I-485 filings (including spouse and children), and 80,000 I-140 approvals in FY 2011 will generate 216,000 I-485 applications, exceeding annual quota of 140,000. This reporter stands corrected for the oversight.
